To ensure payment, treatments need to get approved before they begin. That’s why tracking reassessments is vital when ensuring treatments will be paid – especially for WSIB and MVA patients. But how do you know who’s up for reassessment?
Configure preference settings in Universal Office to trigger alert notifications. The system will provide options to adjust two values – the dollar value (remaining amount) and the number of days remaining before the set plan end date (remaining days). Once set, the system will monitor both values when charges are added to patient files by proposed treatment plans.
Treatment plans allow you to continuously monitor reassessments. Here are three ways:
- Monitor by adding visit charges.
The office administrator who adds charges to patient visits will always know the running quantity of remaining visits based on the selected treatment plan. When adding charges to scheduled visits, be sure to select a treatment plan and see the number of remaining visits as you choose the service/product scheduled to be delivered to the patient at the visit. - Monitor by alert.
The system will list all patients with their current treatment plan approaching the end date or dollar value of plans about to be exhausted through the Reassessments Due alert. The patients that will appear in this list are the ones who where triggered by settings in the preferences mentioned above. - Monitor by patient file.
When you simply want to look it up for a certain patient, open a patient file, and select a treatment plan under the Documents tab. The services proposed on the plan, along with the remaining quantity, will be displayed.
Many office administrators put extra effort into manually reviewing patient charts for upcoming reassessment. At times, this effort extends to the point of counting the visits provided since the last reassessment or the initial assessment to stay updated on when the plan will be exhausted. Universal Office automates this process by providing you with a ready-to-print list that is curated based on your preferences settings.
For facilities that help patients submit invoices to extended health insurers, there is an additional challenge – the limits of the benefits schedule. Universal Office helps automate tracking for this as well. See 4 Tools That Help Track Extended Health Benefits Usage for more information on how we can help you simplify the EHC process.
