Since the release of HCAI’s latest bulletin, posted on March 16th, 2017, we have received a number of inquiries in reference to Universal Office being ready for those upcoming changes.
The fact of the matter is that the changes being implemented by HCAI do not affect practice management systems. As you can see in their bulletin, the changes that will be delivered with Release 3.17 primarily have to do with:
- Merging insurance companies (a feature meant for use by insurers).
- Changes to the user interface search screen as well as new search criteria being added to help HCAI web users use their search tool.
- Some housekeeping and cleanup of depreciated functionality such as the ‘Pending’ tab on the HCAI web portal as well as the removal of the ‘Calculate’ section that appears in Tab 3 of the OCF-21C.
- And finally, this latest HCAI release will extend their support to Microsoft’s newest web browser – Microsoft Edge – and continue to certify Internet Explorer 11.
As you can see, these changes do not affect your practice management system. And there is nothing that needs to be done on our end to prepare you for May 1st.

These changes are consistent with HCAI’s plans for 2017 announced back in January 2017. See HCAI 2017, the Year Ahead bulletin where it talks about what changes are coming our way this year.
