As we’ve mentioned before, claims submitted from your practice management system do not appear in your TELUS Provider Portal. And it doesn’t make it any easier that the Provider Statement you receive from the insurer does not specify the patient name or whether the claim was originally submitted via the TELUS Provider Portal or the practice management system – information necessary to determine which claim the payment covers.
So, how do you match the patients with their corresponding claims?
One key detail in helping you locate both the claim and the patient name is the Insurance Co. Claim ID or CPN, which appears next to each record in the Record Details table on the insurer’s Provider Statement. The Insurance Co. Claim ID/CPN is assigned to each claim when the insurer adjudicates or responds to the submitted claim. For your reference, we’ve posted the definition of CPN in the Glossary pages of our Help Centre.
In order to locate the claim, search both the TELUS Provider Portal and Universal eClaims for the Insurance Co. Claim ID/CPN. To search in the TELUS Provider Portal, refer to the TELUS Health eClaims user guide.
Our latest release of Universal eClaims is available on support.antibex.com, and it now allows for claims to be searched by the Insurance Co. Claim ID/CPN. Simply enter the CPN into the search box to find the claim, make a note of the patient name, and then locate the patient in the Patient Manager in Universal Office and record the payment as usual. For instructions on how to record the payment, see the Record Payments article on our knowledge base.
The need to search both the TELUS Provider Portal and Universal eClaims will decrease as you start submitting your claims through Universal Office. Once you start using Universal eClaims exclusively, you will do your searches solely through Universal – which means your search efforts will be much less challenging!
