As you know, HCAI has been in the pilot phase for the past few months. The pilot phase for HCAI enrolment has now ended, and full rollout has begun. Every facility, both previously enrolled and new businesses, will receive an effective date when to begin submitting OCFs to HCAI. Before the effective date, each facility should continue to submit OCFs directly to insurers. However, on or after this effective date, the facility must be registered and approved by HCAI to submit OCFs to insurers. If a facility is not registered, OCFs must be provided to the patient, who will then submit to insurers.
The rollout process is broken down into Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3, with staggered effective dates. The HCAI Rollout Schedule listing all facilities in Tier 1 and Tier 2 is available on the HCAI website. The schedule for Tier 3 will be available in mid-June.
Here are some of the facts you need to know:
- If your business was previously enrolled in HCAI, you may be listed in the Tier 1 or Tier 2 rollout list, with effective dates starting April 2010.
- If your business was previously enrolled but you are not listed in Tier 1 or Tier 2, check back on the HCAI website in mid-June for the Tier 3 list, with effective dates starting in the fall of 2010.
- If you are a brand new business, and have not previously enrolled in HCAI, you will be included in Tier 3, with effective dates starting in the fall of 2010.
