The winter break is upon us, and we here at Antibex wish you cheer and prosperity for 2016. Whether you’re spending time with loved ones, taking some much-needed downtime or picking up an extra shift at your practice, we’ve collected 3 tips that will have you recharged and ready to ring in the New Year.
- Reflect on past successes
Perhaps it was your first year working as an administrative team lead. Perhaps it was your first year working as a healthcare practitioner. Perhaps your resolve was tested with a particularly grueling period of patient admittance and management. Whatever your key wins were in 2015, now is the perfect time to reflect on them. Think about how far you’ve come in the past 12 months, and what your next steps are. - Apply your key learnings to 2016
This year, what new insights did you garner about your teammates? Your clients? Did you develop a new perspective on an aspect of your work or personal life? Did something go sideways at work, despite your best efforts? If so, think about how you addressed this problem and what the results were. - Take time for yourself
Once you’ve taken a moment to ruminate on your past experiences, consider how you can use them to grow – both professionally and personally. What would you like to achieve and by when? Try laying out your goals for the next year in the form of an OKR (objectives and key results): a handy project management tool used by Fortune 500 companies.
All that introspection and OKR planning can be exhausting, so remember to carve out some time to recharge your batteries over the winter break. Take a quick visit to the gym and get your endorphins flowing – or get a massage to release tension. In the off-chance that’s not possible (hello, surprise visit from the in-laws!), try stealing away to conduct a breathing exercise.
There have also been studies documenting the restorative properties of an old-fashioned good night’s sleep. That’s something we can all afford ourselves.
