Wondering how much those WSIB service fees will increase?
Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Board recently announced their long-awaited fee change, which you can find under the health care practitioners section on the WSIB website.
Fees increased by 8%, equalling the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 2011 to 2016. Services provided on or after August 1, 2017, must be paid according to this new fee schedule. The previous rates will apply to services performed on or before July 31, 2017.
Keep in mind that these new rates only refer to clinical visits – if service providers perform the following for your WSIB patients:
- Acupuncture services
- Chiropody
- Chiropractic
- Massage Therapy
- Nurse Practitioner
- Occupational Therapy
- Physiotherapy
- Podiatry
- Psychology
- Social Work
- Speech-Language Pathology
If you used a previous rate in your WSIB invoice for a service provided on or after August 1, 2017, good news! If you are billing via the TELUS WSIB eServices, the billing system will adjust the rates based on the date of service. You can find more information, such as where to find answers to your billing questions, here.
Moving forward, WSIB will keep fee schedules up to date with CPI – and we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear about the next rate increase. Until then, our knowledge base article Create and Manage Providers will help you update the providers’ rates in Universal Office.
Speaking of Universal Office, we’re actively working on rebuilding our WSIB eServices Module, and we’ll keep you posted once this new module is released.
