Minister of Finance wants to balance FSCO recommendations for all stakeholders

The long-awaited response to the 39 recommendations proposed by FSCO is going to take just a bit longer according to Alicia Johnston, spokesperson for Dwight Duncan, the Minister of Finance, who anticipates the package to be released before the end of 2009.

The Minister of Finance is putting together the comprehensive package based on FSCO’s recommendations and the results of a comprehensive consultation process to ensure the new regulations will be right for all stakeholders.

“We received more than 100 submissions from stakeholders who had very different issues and very different expectations about outcomes,” she said. “We are working on a balanced package that addresses many of these issues.”
