The lowest rate of car crashes in Ontario is in St. Thomas, with an average of 2.5 collision claims per 100 vehicles. This according to an Ontario Safe Driving Study conducted by Allstate Insurance Company of Canada, who analyzed accident statistics in 49 Ontario communities.
The highest crash rates by community were in Thornhill, Ajax, Maple, Brampton and Bolton. Communities in the Greater Toronto Area have collision rates more than twice as high as in some other communities, the study showed.
Thunder Bay drivers rank eighth with an average of 3.7 collision claims per hundred vehicles. And northern Ontario drivers have the lowest overall collision claims of all the five regions of Ontario.
