If you’re an unregulated naturopath, it’s time to get registered.
Effective July 1, 2015, all unregulated naturopath professionals were required to register with and be accountable to the College of Naturopaths of Ontario. The reason for this requirement was due to the fast-approaching end-of-year regulation deadline. Starting January 1, 2016, all unregulated naturopath service providers will be removed from HCAI.
Here are a few questions you might be asking yourself about this big change:
Do I need to make this change?
If you’re a naturopath or healthcare facility that offers treatment goods and/or services provided by regulated naturopaths, you are required to update your status in the HCAI system.
How do I update CRN on HCAI?
Simply update your account’s Associated Provider’s list on the Facility Management tab in HCAI. If you’re using an unregulated Profession Code, you will have to add “Naturopath (Regulated)” in the Profession Details section for the (naturopath) provider along with a valid College Registration Number (CRN).
Check out our Naturopath Providers Now Regulated on HCAI blog post for detailed information on how it’s done.
What happens if I don’t register?
Going into effect January 1, 2016, those using the unregulated version of the naturopath profession will not be able to invoice for any treatment goods or services.
