Universal Office Ready for HCAI’s Spring 2018 System Updates

In January, HCAI announced that the upcoming HCAI Spring 2018 System update will not impact practice management systems (PMS) such as Universal Office. The Release 3.19 implementation date is scheduled for April 9, 2018.

From the bulletin, we learned that the following changes will be delivered with Release 3.19:

  • The ability for insurers to turn off document submissions to inactive branches. It will result in more accurate validation messages on the facility side.
  • New warning messages on HCAI’s web portal:
    • When submitting multiple invoices in one calendar month (as a Universal Office user, you are familiar with such messages).
    • When exceeding the Minor Injury Guideline (MIG) maximum fees.

The warning messages will not restrict users from submitting OCF-21 invoices to HCAI through the web portal and PMS – Universal Scheduling.

Note: FSCO stated that starting October 1, 2018, electronic submission of Form 1 (Assessment of Attendant Care Needs) becomes mandatory for all facilities enrolled with HCAI. However, invoices for attendant care services will continue to be submitted and processed outside of the HCAI system. Since we integrated the Form 1 submission to HCAI into Universal Office already, you have nothing to worry about.

As you can see, these changes do not affect your practice management system. And there is nothing that needs to be done on our end to prepare you for April 9th.

Although HCAI’s Spring System update does not affect Universal Office, we are determined to constantly improve your practice management software and introduce new features.

Stay tuned for the announcement of the latest Universal Office update release.
